How much is a gym membership?

The price of a gym membership varies hugely throughout the UK according to a number of factors, including the location of your chosen gym, how often you pay, how long the membership is for, and what exactly it includes.

CrossFit gym memberships in the UK tend to range from £55 at their lowest, to £250 in locations such as London – averaging out at about £80 per month.

Orwell Fitness’s comprehensive memberships are priced at £70 per month (£60 for discounted groups including students, military, and emergency services) and cover unlimited access to any of our classes and open gym sessions. We accept payment monthly and allow our members to cancel anytime.

Are gym memberships worth it?

Whether or not a gym membership is worth it comes down to a number of factors, but ultimately rests on how you use it. If you’re committed to your exercise routine and use your membership, its value can go far beyond its monthly fee. A well-used membership to a good gym can be the all-important cornerstone of your fitness journey, offering access to equipment, a motivational environment, fitness classes, a friendly community, and training experts.

For many, simply paying a monthly membership serves as motivation to consistently attend their sessions or go to work out.

We believe our gym memberships are especially good value at £60-£70 per month – offering all-inclusive access to our range of six fitness classes, open gym sessions, and facilities. To find out more, read above.

Why should I join a gym?

Every gym member has their own reasons for signing up. Common motivations include establishing better habits, meeting a specific fitness or weight goal, meeting new people, or trying a specific class or discipline.

Joining a gym and completing an exercise routine regularly is scientifically proven to deliver massive benefits to both physical and mental health – meaning those committed to their gym schedule are often at their happiest and healthiest. Whilst building noticeable strength and muscle may take time, the feeling of accomplishment you’ll get after a class, workout, or personal training is immediate and often long-lasting.

Outside of obvious physical benefits and mental accomplishments, the gym can be life-changing across a wide spectrum of areas. Whether you’re looking to join a community of tight-knit, like-minded people, build your confidence and self-esteem, motivate yourself, hold yourself accountable, improve your overall health or even establish a better sleeping schedule – gyms can deliver.

Is CrossFit worth it?

Whether or not CrossFit is worth it for you personally ultimately comes down to how you use your membership and your personal preferences. CrossFit gym memberships can be pricey in comparison to traditional commercial gym memberships – but tend to offer greater access to a welcoming community and more personal classes. For many CrossFit attendees, the camaraderie of its classes and gym environments are a key factor in their motivation and improvement.

What does a gym membership include?

Gym memberships, at their most basic level, grant members unlimited access to their chosen gym’s facilities and equipment – though some memberships offer more – including class access, personal training, and even spa treatments – though these amenities often come at the price of a large cost.

Orwell Fitness’s comprehensive memberships are priced at £70 per month (£60 for discounted groups including students, military, and emergency services) and cover unlimited access to any of our classes and open gym sessions. We accept payment monthly and allow our members to cancel anytime.

Do I need a gym membership?

Typically, gyms require membership for entry, and use of equipment – meaning that most of the time you’ll need one to make use of any of their valuable facilities (although, there are a few smaller gyms across the UK offering ‘pay as you go’ admission).

Orwell Fitness operate on a membership basis. In order to attend our classes and use our facilities regularly, you’re required to sign up for a comprehensive membership priced at just £70 per month (£60 for discounted groups including students, military, and emergency services).

We fully encourage those new to our gym to make use of our free, no-obligation trial sessions – all of which offer prospective members a pressure-free opportunity to get familiar with our classes, coaches, and facilities before committing to a rolling monthly membership.

Can I pay for a gym membership monthly?

Monthly memberships are arguably the most popular form of gym membership in the UK, with the vast majority of gyms offering some form of monthly access and payment. Though ultimately whether or not you can pay monthly depends on your chosen gym, it’s highly likely you’ll be able to.

Orwell Fitness are proud to offer rolling monthly membership plans, inclusive of all classes and facilities, charged at £70 per month (£60 for discounted groups including students, military, and emergency services). To find out more, read above.

Are gym memberships monthly or yearly?

Most gym memberships offer monthly payment as standard, however, some do offer a yearly payment option (often at a slightly discounted rate).

At Orwell Fitness, we aim to ensure our gym memberships work best for the people at the heart of our community; our members. We currently offer a monthly membership scheme at £70 per month (£60 for discounted groups including students, military, and emergency services), cancellable anytime.

If you’d like to discuss yearly memberships, please fill in the contact form above or speak to one of our team members in the gym. We’ll be happy to assist you.

How do gym memberships work?

How exactly your gym membership works depends on its provider/the gym you attend. Typically, the member pays a certain sum of money on a monthly or yearly basis for access to the gym’s facilities and services. Some memberships operate on a fixed term contractual basis, whilst others are rolling and offer the ability to cancel anytime or within specific circumstances.

Orwell Fitness’s comprehensive memberships are priced at £70 per month (£60 for discounted groups including students, military, and emergency services) and cover unlimited access to any of our classes and open gym sessions.

What do gym memberships offer?

Gym memberships, on a surface level, typically offer access to the equipment and resources you need to complete your own workout routine. A membership to a particularly good gym, or particularly good membership scheme may offer access to a highly motivational environment, a community, extra facilities, training, or unlimited classes.

When used by those committed to an exercise routine right for them, gym memberships can also help bring about a whole host of physical, mental, and social benefits, including improving your body composition, building strength, losing weight, increasing stamina, increasing flexibility, meeting your fitness goals, establishing positive habits, and making new friends.
