Contact UsPersonal training is typically defined as a 1-1 training session in which an individual is coached towards their personal fitness goals by an accredited fitness professional – but may also be conducted in small groups. Training sessions of this nature should be tailored by the trainer to meet your precise level of ability, needs, timeframe and goals, delivering an entirely bespoke experience at your pace.
A highly popular option across all ability and experience levels, personal training is often considered particularly useful to those brand new to the gym or requiring guidance regarding their exercise program, goals, or equipment use, those requiring motivation and accountability, or those training hard towards a particular goal – e.g. a marathon.
Orwell Fitness are proud to offer a hand-selected roster of highly experienced and accredited personal trainers. To discover more about them, or to make an inquiry, read above.
Whether you want to improve your stamina, practice a specific exercise, beat your personal best, or train for an upcoming competition, personal training is the perfect training format to help ensure you meet and exceed your greatest ambitions. Its benefits include:
A one-to-one training session is a perfect environment to detect and correct subtle technique and form issues that may be overlooked in group environments.
Your personal trainer should take the time to fully understand your abilities and health – working around existing strengths, weaknesses, likes, dislikes, and injuries to develop safe programmes and techniques right for your unique circumstances.
Your personal trainer should work alongside you to not only physical but mental strength – ensuring you feel confident in your technique and abilities.
Accountability is key to progress in any environment, and critical in meeting fitness goals. A good personal trainer should be there to cheer you on, keep you motivated, and hold you accountable.
Personal training is the ideal solution to a full schedule, offering one-on-one time slots in line with your individual availability.
Whether or not personal training is worth it depends on a number of factors, including your goals, to what extend you’re willing to commit, and how much you’re paying for your sessions.
If you’re new to the gym, booking a block with a personal trainer can be highly useful in mapping out your goals, establishing a gym plan, learning how to exercise and use the equipment correctly, and refining your form. In addition, if you require some extra motivation and accountability to get into the gym, simply paying for and having contact/a pre-booked session with a personal trainer can assist greatly.
Even if you’re an experienced gym-goer or athlete, a specialised personal trainer can be highly useful in beating plateaus, learning new techniques, and pushing forward to meet a goal.
If you’re unsure as to whether personal training is for you, our coaches highly recommend arranging a short consultation or free trial with a trainer.
The exact frequency at which you should train with a personal trainer ultimately comes down to your individual plan, goals, fitness levels, schedule, and budget. With this being said, to see any worthwhile progress, our coaches highly recommend attending at least one session per week with some added solo training. Attending two to three sessions per week will certainly assist in learning and perfecting exercises faster – but that’s not to say you can’t spend some extra time at home or in the gym by yourself polishing off what you learn in one session.
Your personal trainer should be able to help establish your idea frequency and gym plan after a quick consultation.
You should train with your personal trainer a minimum of one time per week in order to work effectively towards achieving your goals and to maintain your results. What your personal training session includes depends on the provider you select, and your individual requirements. Whilst some personal trainers offer all-around exercise training in a set location, some may specialise in a specific sport or discipline, and offer mobile services.
In general, an average personal trainer will be able to develop a bespoke exercise plan including aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, resistance training, and flexibility training where required, determining the exercise type, duration, and frequency in line with an individual client’s needs and abilities. They should also be able to demonstrate and correct exercise techniques where required.
Some personal trainers may offer nutritional guidance if qualified.
Orwell Fitness are proud to offer a hand-selected roster of highly experienced and accredited personal trainers, some of which specialise in specific disciplines including Olympic weightlifting and CrossFit. To discover more about them, or to make an inquiry, read above.
How much your personal training costs is highly dependent on your chosen provider or trainer. Whilst some personal trainers offer payment per session options, many require their clients to complete a ‘block booking’ – e.g. 5 sessions.
The cost of your booking may also be influenced by your location (city locations such as London tend to be pricier), the experience level of the coach you hire (e.g. a new personal trainer looking to gain experience vs a team GB athlete with years of expert experience in your sport), and the format of your training (e.g. in gym or at home vs ZOOM sessions).
At Orwell Fitness, we aim to keep our personal training prices accessible, fair, and consistent. To further discuss our session options and prices, feel free to fill in the contact form above to get in touch with our team.
An average PT training session can last anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, however, depending on your unique training style, goals, schedule, and budget, you may be able to book in for shorter or longer sessions.
Before selecting a session length, our coaches recommend either attending a trial session, or booking in for a consultation in order to allow for your trainer to properly gauge your preferences, fitness level, and ability.
If you’d like to start personal training sessions with an Orwell Fitness coach but are unsure as to how long your session should be, feel free to contact us. We’ll be happy to offer advice and get you started.
